The National Children’s Chamber Orchestra (NCCO) is conducted by David Johnston, and is characterised by its musical flair and speed of learning new repertoire. No compromise is made for lack of age and experience. Standard works of the chamber orchestra are studied, backed up with sectional coaching, ready for a performance at the end of the Easter Course. The NCCO has had music especially written for the group, which helps to strike a balance between classical and modern repertoire. There are places for five desks of 1st and 2nd violins, four desks of violas, four desks of ‘cellos and three double basses. Spaces are also available for two each of flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons, trumpets and horns.
